Ben Schoeman: Liszt Various venues 5-16 April Tickets: R90/R70 Contact Computicket or Leon van Zyl (071 896 5790) Music lovers and concert goers can prepare themselves for an unforgettable musical experience: South Africa’s own piano virtuoso, the popular Ben Schoeman will perform at a series of concerts in April in various centres. Ben is originally from Pretoria and is now living in London. These performances form part of a national tour to celebrate the release of his debut solo-CD titled Ben Schoeman: Liszt. Ben Schoeman’s increasing status as performing artist is supported by a number of extraordinary achievements. Apart from being the second winner of the Second National Unisa Piano Competition in 2007, Ben became the first South African to win the Unisa International Piano Competition in 2008. In recognition of his achievements and his service to music, the University of Pretoria Alumni Association bestowed on him their Laureate award. Ben Schoeman also won first prize in the Royal Overseas League Music Competition in London (2009) and most recently he was named the Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Music (2011). Standard Bank has also sponsored the CD. The artist will be available to sign CDs following the concerts. The release of Ben Schoeman’s CD is timed to coincide with the bicentenary celebrations of Franz Liszt’s birthday and includes, amongst other works, the majestic B minor Sonata. The album is released by the local record label, TwoPianists. - 9 April Endler Hall Stellenbosch
- 10 April - Enoch Sontonga Hall in the Sunnyside Campus of Unisa Pretoria
This concert will take place on Sunday at the unusual time of 18:30. The artist will be available to sign CDs following the concert and audience members are invited to join in a celebratory glass of wine.Tickets are available from Computicket or Leon van Zyl (071 896 5790) at R90/R70.
