| Africa 101 to screen African contemporary dance works

This Saturday 29th October 2011 in the Opera Bar from 2pm–5pm, Africa 101 will screen video documentation of 5 impressive and innovative African contemporary dance works , produced and staged over the last five years by international award – winning companies and choreographers, some in collaboration with South African companies or dancers.
These evocative works will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on you, with their excellent choreography, their boundary – pushing approaches and poignant social commentary.
Few may have seen these works live at South African dance festivals such as the FNB Dance Umbrella, National Arts Festival and the Centre for Creative Arts’ Jomba! Dance Festival or during their relatively brief runs at local theatres. The screening if video documentation of these works is sure to be an inspiring and educational experience for dance trainees, choreographers and all dance lovers! They are also , as with all activities on the Africa 101 programme intended to stimulate discussion and encourage a greater appreciation and exposure of the breadth African arts.
